Primary school in Israel start on Sept. 1st and ends June 30st. (unlike highschools) There are some holidays scattered around the year, coinciding more or less with the jewish holidays, so in the beginning we start kind of messy with the jewish newyear, day of atonement etc. which has lots of free days all in sept-oct,Then we teach a good stretch until a break for a week or so in (our) winter for channuka (often around Christmas in Europe), about two weeks in the spring for passover and then some more days here and there for independence and memorial days etc. In our school the kids study from 8:10 in the morning until 1:15 or 2:00 in the afternoon, SIX days a week!! (on Friday until 12:15 and Saturdays free) |

I m beginning to feel very sorry for myself and for all members of the German school system, students or teachers, as we only get 6 weeks off in the summer. Seems to be by far the shortest summer vacation. We get a week or two in the autumn (depending on the region), a fortnight around Christmas, a week or two around Easter (depending on the region), another week in spring for some regions, and that s it !
After 6 weeks summer holidays our pupils have forgotten an awful lot. How on earth do you cope after a 2 to 3 months vacation?? Start from zero? love Dorothea

Hi there,
In Panama, its very similar that in your country, BUT the school year starts in the first weeks of March. In July we have holiday (2 weeks), and then the classes go till the middle of December, when the classes are over. Then the summer vacation starts (December to February).
They have classes in the morning or in the afternoon.
Greetings from Panama,
