I �d like to add my support for the first sentence. As has already been pointed out by a few of our colleagues, the time indicator in the second sentence cannot be used with the present perfect. Here �s how I teach it: the PRESENT perfect is a PRESENT tense, and can only be used with PRESENT times, like today, this week, this year, (in my life) etc. That way you can �t go wrong. Thats what I always teach my students. You cant use past tenses with present perfect together simply. The only reason why I was in doubt was that an English uni teacher has corrected it like so (Tom has burnt his hand while he was doing dinner). Nevermind you assured me.
