Which or what?
|
Hi!
I ve got a doubt. Maybe it s a silly one, but I need your help. Is there any difference beween the two questions:
Which sports do you practice? and what sports do your practice?
Without a context, are they both correct?
Thanks for your tips!

To me both sound correct. I d use either one of them.

Hello,
Zora is right. Both are correct and lead to the same answer.

Both are correct. The real diference between which and what is that we normally use which when we limit the choice of answer e.g. which team sports do you practise? and what when the answer can be any sport. Hope that helps. :) Rosemary |

if you ask a question with "which" you are likely to show alternatives. but when you ask with "what" there are limitless alternatives.
for example
what cities did you visit in England?
there are so many cities that you can t show alternatives.
which cities did you visit in England, London or Brighton?
you give only two option. |
