Its a real shame that your head teacher felt that way about the song. I have used Ironic before in class and it worked really well. And its a great song!

I think from a language point of view there are many other songs which would be just as effective in the classroom and would help with language acquisition. Teaching can be challenging enough, without having the boss watching over you. Pick songs which get what you want to teach across, but won �t get you in trouble with anyone! Tell your colleague that she is certainly right to use songs, she �s a great teacher and to not give up!
