Good evening everybody!

I wonder what is the difference between primary and elementary school. I work in a school that the child is from 6 to 12 years old. Then the child go to high school, the Gymnasium.

Many thanks  Confused

An elementary school is an institution where children receive the first stage of compulsory education known as elementary or primary education. Elementary school is the preferred term in some countries, particularly those in North America. Primary school is the preferred term in the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Australia, Latin America and New Zealand.

There is Junior High School or Middle School - grades 7-9

Then High School - grades 10-12 or 13.

Cyprus was one of UK s colonies, so I think "primary" is the right word here.

Thanks

There s no difference between primary and elementary.  Though primary is used mainly in Qubec, most canadians and state unians refer to it as elementary.  Hope this helps.
