Dear Brazilian teachers,
One of my students asked me how to say "Ela est fazendo 17 anos" in English. How could I say that? "She s completing 17 years old"?
Tks in advance! |

"she is completeting her 17th age" sounds more grammatical to me.

As far as I understand "Ela est fazendo 17 anos" doesn t mean her birthday is today, but that her birthday is coming, so, I would say: "She is going to be 17, ( in a week, in a few days), or " she will be 17 in a while", something like that.

She s nearly 17 is very common. |

"She s turning 17" (if she will be 17 years old on her birthday)
I know that some cultures say they are "in their 18th year" refering to what we call "17 years old". |
