I started a course in English remedial teachig. Now we are studying 2 different methods of teaching reading for students with learning disabilities. The methods are Hickey and Phonographix. I would like to know if there are teachers in this forum who use these methods and what material is used.
I would appreciate any recommendations you might have.

Hi, I do not know about hickey and phonographix. But i taught my son with learning disability - started with phonetics, flash cards of prepositions (dolch wordlist). Used carlscorner.com which has lot of sight word reading material and starfall.com which has leveled reading programme learn to read, i am reading etc. (3 levels). I am sure, the above links shall definitely help your students, if not all atleast a few. Good luck and good day to all. |
