Well, as far as I know (and I ve been doing some research) both "abacaxi" and "anans" are referred to as "pineapple". The Portuguese use the word "anans", The Brazilian use the word "abacaxi". And although we make a difference between them, not only because of the price but also because of thre sweetness, there is only one word in English and that is "pineapple".

Ananas is alike abacaxi but ananas is a bit smaller , yellowish , sweeter . Interesting that last week I bought a pineapple and when I got home and cut  it  I realized that actually it was an ananas .

At supermarket it was written Golden Pineapple , maybe it is the way they distinguish pineapple from ananas .
