The other thing to bear in mind is that there is no intention to actually injure someone when competing with judo. As such, then, they are �playing� as distinct from �fighting�. The same thing applies to kendo (Japanese fencing). Both of these pursuits are potentially fatal if used in a full contact environment and/or with real weapons. This may be another reason why �play judo/kendo � might be appropriate rather than �do�.
