Assignment ´to put with ´
|
Hi All,
I have an assignment on teaching the words ´to put up with ´ My original idea was to teach ´ I can ´t put up with his smoking any longer ´, but my tutor said that this is a negative phase. ´To put up with ´ means that you will tolerate something even though you don ´t like it.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks

You could say...
"Auntie Myrtle is coming for Christmas. Every year, I put up with her complaining about the food."

Although I don ´t like it I have to put up with his smoking!
Is that what you mean?Is it the verb or the idea that has to be positive?

Here is another one.
When we camp, I have to put up with having a cold shower. There is no hot water at the camp ground. |
