Can we say "on weekends"?

I have always said "at weekends" but I have seen "on weekends" in a worksheet. Is it correct? Thanks in advance
Happy Christmas to everybody

Yes, it s absolutely correct. Some say it s AmE. I use prep. -on- with weekend  all the time. Merry Christmas to you too :)

Hi Yolanda,

Kate is right. "on" weekends is American English as for British English you say "at" weekends. Prepositions strike again!LOL

What are you going to do on the weekend?

Usually, on weekends, I go for a long walk, but since it is Christmas weekend, I will go to my Mother`s to celebrate.
