In one of the PPT ws downloaded by me today, I ´ve come across sentences like ´Have you finished your homework yet? ´, ´Has James left yet? ´ ´Has she received the letter yet? ´Slide 2

There are 2 uses of "YET"
1) with a negative verb to say something has not happened but we think it will happen
2) in questions to ask whether something we expect to happen has happened
(Oxford practice grammar Basic page 32)
So in this case the answer is " YES" |

Yes.
We use YET in negative and interrogative sentences with Present Perfect Tense
