The proper way is the "ing" sound... "in" is more slang...

I study English and was taught that -ing is pronounced WITHOUT the final consonant g. The n sound becomes nasal and velar.

Hi, all.

But how do you pronounce the following:

-The pupils going to the room.
-The pupils go into the room.

So that the listener understands what you mean?

The "i" sound in the ing is a tad longer and more pronouced... and the "i" in into is more clipped and shorter... I know that its quite hard at times for non-natives to hear the difference sometimes though.
