Hi everybody!
Happy Valentine s Day to all of you! lots of LOVE, KISSES and HUGS and not only on this special day!
And now my question:
In one of the coursebooks I have been currently using( Total English) I came across this question: A: What job are you doing?
and the answer was: B: I m a journalist but I m not working at
the moment
My question is: Is it possible and correct to ask about jobs and professions like this as I have known and I have always thaught What do you do? to ask about jobs and professions
Thanks in advance for your answers

I ve first heard such a question "what job are you doing"
I think it is wrong
What do you do ? or what s your job These two questions are common and correct usage as far as I know |

Hi!
I think the most correct form is:
1- What do you do for a living?
or
2- What s your job? / What s your occupation?
Have a nice day! |

Thanks!
That question in the course book doesnt sound correct to me, too

Yes, the book is wrong. It s an ongoing situation, so the present continuous (which indicates action now) isn t right.
