Hello, everyone!
I �ve been trying to solve a crossword about food and drink, but there are three words I can �t find...I �ve thought about several answers but none seems to be the correct...So I thought maybe someone here could help me
a. An ice __________ is ice with a flavour, on a stick (I thought it was cream)
b. a lot of people have a bowl of it with milk and sugar for breakfast (I thought it could be cereal)
c. Mineral water without gas is ___________

Could be:
a. lolly
b. cornflakes (or porridge?)
c. still
If it isn �t, let me know how many letters, etc. and I �ll try again!:)

without knowing the number of letters b is difficult but I agree with lili on a and c. b could be cereal, cornflakes, porridge...

Thanks to you I �ve already found the missing answers... The problem was related to the ice-cream...
If I use LOLLY, I can use the word cereal as an answer for b. And answer c. also fits the crossword...

Ice lolly is common in the US I believe.
In Australia you would say nothing else but ice-block!!!!

No, ice lolly is British. In the US, we use the brand name Popsicle.

Actually Darren, although Wikipedia says that we Ozzies say ice-block, I have never heard that and I have lived in many parts of Australia. I know an ice-block to be what we make ourselves using ice cube trays. On a hot summer day kids like to suck on these home made ice blocks.
The more general term is icy pole. Although it�s a brand name (Nestle, I think) that�s what we generally call flavoured ice on a pop stick. Next time I�m near the icecream section I�ll take a look to see what the packets state because the other brands can�t call them icy poles. It probably says ice block (lol). |
