make a brief parenthesis?
|
hi, everyone. I was wondering if the expression "make a brief parenthesis" is correct. In Spanish we have "hacer un breve parntesis", but I m not sure if the literal translation is correct. I have looked it up in two dictionaries but that expression does not appear.
Thanks in advance and have a nice week,

make a break? or to make a little break. Ithink that parenthese is more used to indicate a linguistic sign. I hope It will be useful

Peiolei,
If you are talking about a pause in the work, it would be "to take a little break". "Hacer" is usually translated "make" or "do", but sometimes in expressions it is different. In English, a parenthesis is only this ( or this ).

Thanks to both of you. But is the expression "take a little break" formal? It is for a paper, so I m using formal English.
Thanks again |

I suggest a brief pause or to pause for a moment which are more formal |
