I once met Noam Chomsky in a pub in Govan (a working class area of Glasgow, famous for its shipbuilders and engineers) called Brechins Bar.
Much as I love Chomsky the anarchist, this particular warts and all transcript is geared towards those whore already familiar with his political critiques and his theories about radical behaviourism. I take it, Akram, that youve made this a thread on this forum because of his groundbreaking work as a theoretical linguist. If so, what exactly is your point?

I do value your comment but not surprisingly I made this thread on esl forum because Chomsky as a linguist and mainly his works have been engraved in our memory since university.Almaz , how do you like meeting a renown linguist as Chomsky?

Akram,
He was involved in a 3-day workshop organised by a libertarian group in Glasgow (the prime mover was a Glaswegian writer called James Kelman, if that means anything). The pub was directly opposite the venue (The Pearce Institute - essentially a local civic centre) and I had a few time o the day words with him before he was swamped (almost literally - he s not a big guy) by a horde of groupies/fans who (and I kid you not) spread themselves around his feet. I made my excuses and left. |
