past simple or past continuous? Native speakers I need your help :)
A: ............................... (it/ rain) much last summer?
B: Not in July but it ................................. (rain) a lot in August.

I would say: a:Did it rain much last summer? B:But it rained a lot in August |

I agree with the A but shouldn �t we express the continiuity in B - but it was raining a lot in August?

Well, one simple answer to your question, is that you should answer in the same tense as the question was asked. In this case, the past simple - which is what I �d also use in both cases.

Besides, you specify the quantity, the result that is. I vote Simple Past in both. |
