Can anyone help me... I would like to know why the "X" in X�MAS = CHRISTMAS... Is there any historical explanation for that ? Thanks a lot for your time and concern

I read on the internet:
The greek letter �x� is the first letter for the greek word for Christ, Xristos.
Xmas therefore means "Christ�s Mass"
The abbreviation has been around since the 16th century.
There could be a 1000 other explanations, though. Good weekend L

Yes, they are right. Think that the real meaning of Xmas is that Jesus Christ was born. He is God for christians so it is one of the most important celebrations. If Christ hadn�t come to Earth we would be lost. He took our place on the cross and died for us, he paid the consequence of our bad things. If we believe in Him he can restore the relation between God and us! I know that people only think of gathering with the family, eating, giving and receiving presents... but that�s not the real celebration.
