is this a LADYBIRD OR A LADYBUG..please share, i am so confused.

If I am not mistaken, it is LADYBIRD in England and LADYBUG in America. I �m not sure about Australia and New Zealand, though.

Hello nurreyes
Ladybirds  (UK, Ireland, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, India, Malta, parts of Canada) and Ladybugs (North America).
Scientists increasingly prefer the names ladybird beetles or lady beetles, as these insects are not bugs. (from answers.com)

The word "ladybird" is BE. The Americans say "ladybug".
 
I personally prefer LADYBIRD!! Wink

Both are fine and young kids must know both because they are in differnt nursery rhymes. 
 I agree with previous posts on the BE / AmE. Just wanted to say
 
It �s a ..... Coccinella septempunctata
 
And ... did you know they are named after the Virgin Mary?
 
And .... they are vicious killers of the insect world!

Darryl: Thanks for the info..never knew all this before about Lady Bird/bug/ beetles.

and well of course, me too personally prefers Ladybird.
