							| A rich soup is different than a "thick" or "creamy" soup. Rich refers to flavour. A consomm� which is a "clear soup" can be rich, meaning it has a lot of flavour. And a cream(y) soup is also different, it is made with milk/cream and isn �t always "thick". 
 The opposite of a consomm� (clear soup or broth) is a thick soup like a stew or bisqu�... something that has substance to it.
