Characteristics of Effective teaching ( Order of Importance )????
|
Good morning dear teachers,
I have a question that is really puzzling.
If we consider that teacher s
Knowledge of Content
personal qualities,
classroom control,
instructional strategies and skills,
planning and organization,
building high expectations,
positive feedback,
and motivation
are the characteristics of effective teaching, then which order of importance would you follow to arrange them?
Thanks for your help and support.
Hugs,
Nebal
P.S. I would like to thank Epit, Annaisabel, Mish, and Harim for their help and support. I will send you pms later. |

1- planning and organization,
2- classroom control,
3- Knowledge of Content
4- personal qualities
Then, at the same level, sharing the 5th position, all these characteristics:
motivation
building high expectations

Good morning, Nebal!
I personally think the characteristics you have listed are equally important in effective teaching but if I had to prioritize them I would finally say (after having changed the order a few times):
1. instructional strategies and skills 2. planning and organisation 3. knowledge of content 4. classroom control 5. motivation 6. building high expectations/positive feedback 7. personal qualities
Have a nice day! serene

Wowwwwwwwwwwwww!!!Guysssssssss!! No one gave me the same order of importance. LOL!!!! I feel like I shouldn t follow an order, but integrate them .
What I noticed that personal qualities are not first placed, which I thought the same. But, what about classroom mangaement and teaching strategies?? Really interesting and confusing.
Thanks Serene and Lindsey!!!

Dear Nebal,
I tried to create my own variant several times, and then I saw that my final version is EXACTLY the same as Serene s except I would exchange 6 and 7.....

Dear Neby, you have asked me why. Well let me tell you...
1- planning and organization,
2- classroom control,
3- Knowledge of Content
4- personal qualities
Then, at the same level, sharing the 5th position, all these characteristics:
motivation
building high expectations
positive feedback
instructional strategies and skills
The first thing you have to do to achieve Effective teaching is to sit down at home and plan your class. If you go into it with a clear idea of what you are going to do, it can be a disaster. Second, every teacher needs to know how to control the class to achieve the activities planned before hand. Control here means timing of activities, sequencing according to plan, watching out students behaviour and activities, etc. Then knowlege of content, becuse if you don t know what you are going to teach, your class can t be effective and of course certain personal qualities neccesary to achieve these 3 characteristics.
You want to know why I ranked the other 4 together! Well, I think that all of them have to be present with the same importance. The teacher has to work hard to motivate students and should also be motivated her/himself. Building high expectations, positive feedbak and instructional strategies and skills are other necessary ingredients to make this mixture successful and are often related each other.
