							| That is something that only a neurologist or a specialist in the area can diagnose if you suspect a student you should talk to his parents or director of your school about maybe evaluating him. maybe this can help you since changig the d for a b is not the only symptom.http://www.dyslexia.com/library/symptoms.htm | 10 May 2010

							| No advice could be better than what lizsantiago said.   I m just gonna open a can of worms here by saying:   writing d where b should be, is NOT a symptom of dyslexia. Here is why ...   1. Yes, letter reversal is one of the many indicators. However, this can be considered normal up to a point. Especially if only prevalent on d/b. 2. It is the number of errors in general that is important not the number of reversals.
I have limited education and not much experience in special education but hey, you are falling into a common misconception which makes me cringe actually. So ... please be careful and educate yourself on the cause / symptoms and effects of this all too common disorder (20% of popln effected).   Above all, well done for taking an interest in your students work and being clever enough to pick up errors and brave enough to ask questions    | 10 May 2010

							| sorry, I am not sure how old a grade six student is, but the only thing I can say is that my own children (sons and daughter) all wrote d/b incorrectly until they were 7 or eight. They are not at all dyslexic and grew out of it! But if the child is older or you feel unhappy about the situation then the advice of lizantiago good. | 10 May 2010

							| It is very well possible that a sixth grade student has dyslexia. At this age, you can test the student. Please make effort to let him be tested, because it is very important to know if he has dyslexia! He can then be helped in a different way and it will be a relief to himself to know why he has such difficulties.
I was 16 when they discovered my dyslexia and that was very late! I could have had much better help much earlier!
You can look on the website http://www.dyslexia.com/library/symptoms.htm if you would like to see 37 symtoms of dyslexia.
Good luck! | 10 May 2010

							| my student is 11. I ve asked a couple of my colleagues and they said it s really nothing to worry about. However, I am keeping an eye on it. He also has no reading comprehension skills. Thanks for all the good advice. Me, serious? Only when it comes to my students well-being. | 11 May 2010
