you could replace the first 2 sentences: The police arrested a gang of thieves at the Millenium Dome in London yesterday. The thieves tried to steal the world s biggest diamond. he police arrested a gang of thieves at the Millenium Dome in London yesterday while they were trying to steal the world s biggest diamond. if you mean that they were arrested at the middle of the act of stealing.
