Dear friends,
I need your help!
In an exercise where students had to write the verbs in brackets in the correct tense, there was the following sentence -
"Peter is good at _____________ (play) football."
Is it correct? Can it be considered a verb tense?
I don t think so!
Thanks in advance. |

It seems that what is being tested is...expressions followed by -ing or infinitive...not tenses!

Probably the exercise said "Put the verbs in the correct form", and in this case it is correct. You have to use the -ing form. good at playing football

it is considered as a verb form but not a verb tense. (verb+ing)
It is advisable to test verb form (past participle - gerund - bare inf or full inf) and verb tenses together. So the instruction of this type of tests will be as follow: Provide the bracketed verbs form or tense. |
