Help!

I need help. Is the following sentence correct?

John did not eat the ice cream although his mother said he could.

Thanks.

It sounds correct to me! ;))

You could say "John did not eat the ice-cream although his mother had said he could." as well, because his mothers statement took place a little bit earlier, but its not really necessary to use the Past Perfect in this case I think.
