Is there a difference between in and on in these sentences? if there is one, can you explain it to me????
I was checking my students biographies and I wasn t sure about the phrase Be born + preposition, I checked on the internet and I came across these sentences and now I m lost, I m confused.... Can you help me?????????

He was born in Paris. (use in before place of birth) He was born in July. (use in if you mention only the month) He was born on 5 May, 1998. (use on if you mention the day) He was born in 1998. (use in if you mention only the year) He was born on 6 October 1980, in Paris. (combination)

Both sentences are OK, because we use on before the months and the dates
Examples
She was born on July. She was born on 3th July. She was born on July 3. She was born on 3 July 1960 She was born on July 3, 1960

No, renko6, you can never say I was born on July. In July. The others are fine. Nice breakdown of information, veronika76.
30 Sept is a more British way of saying it. August 4 is American, they tend to write the month first. |

You can say for example:"She was born the 3rd of July, 2006"
You use neither "on" nor "in" |

In the US, we usually don t say "She was born the 3rd of July" without "on". It isn t uncommon to say "She was born July 3rd", though, as well as "She was born on July 3rd".

Same in Canada, we use on the 3rd of July, or July 3rd. |
