Expression, is it correct?
|
Hi, I m doing a ws about present perfect for my students and I thought about this sentence:
He has worn those jeans straight.
My question is if it is correct "straight", I want them to undestard the word like he hasn t changed clothes for some time.
It it isn t correct, would you tell me an expression which meaning is realted?
Thank you!

I ve never heard it said like that. When I first read it, I though maybe you were referring to a particular style of jeans, i.e. straight leg. (http://www.jcpenney.com/products/Cg10479.jsp)
To express the meaning you want it to have, I d change it to something like, "He has worn those jeans for two weeks straight."

Hi, i ve read this expression somewhere, and i remember asking an American friend of mine and she told me, according to the context, that the jeans were so dirty that they could stand up on their own... but it might be wrong! have a nice day! Elodie

Hi, the British English expression is four days running . I haven t heard four days straight before. |

I agree with SueThom. In the US, we would say "four days straight" or "four days in a row".
