4-Skill Lesson About Ancient Civilizations. HELP!!!
|
Dear Colleagues
I have to deal with a 4-skills (listening/Reading/Speaking&pronunciation/writing) unit/lesson about ANCIENT CIVILIZATION. But I am caught in a delimna. The official one on the PPs textbook is very interesting but it contains very long texts including a lot of difficult vocabulary/terminology especially the listening passages (2) which are very long and for which we dont have the audio tapes ie. we have to read them ourselves and I let you guess the rest. On the other hand, I have to do with "very" weak SS (16-18) who have a big handicap yet with their grammar knowledge.
So, can anyone help me to get resources, materials and even ideas so that I can by-pass the textbook and try to recover at least the minimum with these PP. Cause I am sure if I stick to the application of the official textbook, they are condamned as far as their final exam is conserned by the end of this year. |

Ill been teaching ESP for many years in different specialities under an special adaptation of the reading comprehension Method. My classes have the characteristics that you have mentioned, that is, difficult texts overloaded of vocabulary and with students with different levels of knowledge of English. You can adopt this methodology as a strategy to understand texts, then, with the information your students can get from the texts, you can design speking or listening activities. Its a quick way of working with the texts to extract information. If you want to get further information, send me an e-mail and Ill explain it further because it can be too long for this forum
