Ah, the cigarette. My faithful friend in stressful times. The symbol of rebellion as one comes of age. The first kiss of every morning and the last breath of day. Ah yes, the cigarette. I have told more lies on thy behalf than any other. I have expended much creative scheming in seeking a secret rendevous with you etc. etc. etc.
(exerpt from ode to a cigarette by Pete Strobl, 2006)
for the record, I dont smoke...) |

Well.... doxie or doxy is a loose woman (prostitute) so it could be that "little black book" where Madams keep the names and numbers of their clients??
Wait! New revelation! The biography of a doxie!!! Yes, that must be it! lol

ADOX is the only German company that still produces those old APX 400 black and white films which used to be manufactured by the German company Agfa. Some people still use this kind of film in their old cameras.
The ending -graphy has to do with writing, so it must be a black & white film which is able to write... When you stick the photos into your album you don t have to write anything underneath them yourself, you just tell the photos to do it for you. |

Poohbear is on the right track. According to the etymology of the greek word it must mean writing about unimportant, not famous things. A=negative prefix, doxa= fame, graghy=writing.
