Linguistic/Grammatical Question

Does anyone know the operational name for a subject in a sentence that is represented by more than just one noun:

The dog, the cat and the boy were running.

In Polish it is called: podmiot szeregowy = BLAH BLAH BLAH subject

By BLA BLA BLA I mean I dont know, but it is an adjective.

Thank u soo much for ur help.

I think you can call it  "compound subject" or "complex subject".

I agree with rosammd.

Look at this example taken from the internet.

At the local Dairy Queen, Officer Jenkins, Mrs. Lowery, the Williams twins, Harold, Billy Jo, Jenny, and Marsha gasped at the sight of pickle slices on their banana splits.

Officer Jenkins, Mrs. Lowery, the Williams twins, Harold, Billy Jo, Jenny, Marsha = compound subject

Compound is any group or clause made up of a number of items from the same category, clasifying as equals. One example can be your subject, katpak, made up of a number of nouns, making it a compound subject.

Complex is a group or clause that has different items from different categories. For example, where there is a dependent and an independent clause, that s a complex sentence
(The cat, the dog and the boy were running [independent clause] because they were late [dependent clause]. The complete sentence is a complex sentence, as the clauses have different hierarchies.)
