For me it depends on the level of the students. In the lower grade I usually write the name of the day in full and then the date in numbers (Saturday 16.10.2010)
As soon as I taught them ordinal numbers and months I ask them how to write it and I write Saturday the 16th of October, 2010 (they need to be able to tell me if I need to add st , nd or th after the number...) |

I write October 16, 2010. I always write the month in full. I never abbreviate. Also, while we re on the subject of my pet peeve, I HATE when teachers stamp the date in a child s notebook. How are they ever going to learn to write?? |
