hello,
I already received a message telling me that my Worksheet about BULLYING has been removed.
firstly, I know I can use texts from other websites or books in my worksheets if I add MY own exercises or activities (For example, reading comprehension questions, etc).
secondly, moderators said it was a copy from http://www.instantdisplay.co.uk/free.htm but the information to made my worksheet was taken from another website- non ESL page (and in case I mencioned the source at the end of my ws http://www.nobully.org.nz/advicek.htm )
thirdly, following the rules I added it my own activities nevertheless IT WAS REMOVE
so, I would like to know why moderators have voted for removal if I am not breaking any rule!!!!!
BTW, I don t care losing some points but my account could be cancelled if I continue "breaking the rules" of the website.
but,,,,,which rule?
Thanks in advance

I ve looked several times, but I can t find the reported contribution you mention. In any case, let me tell you about the rules: one cannot use texts from ESL books (I don t know if that is the case) even if your own tasks are added. You can borrow texts from the net if you mention the source AND add your own activities. |

I don t think you can find it,, my worksheet has been removed today.
I haven t use an ESL book nor even a ESLpage so I don t know what was wrong with it..
I did exactly whata the rules said, I add it my own activities!!! but someone has report it and you moderators have voted for removal!
why? I still don t know |

@dutchboydvh Hi, if you pay attention to the rules :You are not allowed to send the same worksheet twice.", so, that mustnt be done :( |

@ lapaoiza: "You are not allowed to send the same worksheet twice" means you shouldn t upload a worksheet twice but also implies that the first worksheet was accepted, which isnt the case here. I think poster can re-upload the ws if it complies with the rules.
BTW, when a ws is removed I thought the author gets a message stating the reason why it was removed. Did you get any, prof?

I vaguely remember the discussion, which I didn t join in, on the moderators list I think the content of your worksheet was almost the same as another members worksheet which was uploaded prior to your own. You both used the same source http://www.instantdisplay.co.uk/free.htm
so it was natural the content would match. |

We need to be careful of this source checking, as it is very possible we can get loads of different sources from website to website with the same as same information. Sounds like El has tried to keep 100% to the rules but only to fail because of the way anybody or us checks for copy right.
we need to be very careful here as someone can have their account cancelled when we as people loading worksheets and really think we have kept to the rules at 100%.
I think we need to get rid of this section of rules so we all know where we stand and don t get confused on them....!

Hi, I think I remember the discussion. The member who reported your ws said that the text was taking from that page. The rule about taken texts from books or sites says: You can use texts from other websites or books in your worksheets if you add your own exercises or activities (For example, reading comprehension questions, etc). Please don t take texts from other ESL websites or books, it would be unfair. So, why don t you upload your ws again giving the link to the site you took the text from?
It s not the first time this happens and giving the text source would have helped. We have talked about this more than once and, I think, we agreed the source should be given even in the ws itself. Of course, this is not a rule but a good and helping idea.
Hope you can have your ws back, Olga |
