possessive case

Czech Republic

This is an American rule: "use a simple apostrophe after a singular noun, common or proper, that ended in s or z"
(as my American teacher told me)
According to her, the Brits normally use "s s" - Mr Jones s scooter,
but plurals are like this:
girls dolls = dolls of "those" girls

Hope I am right :-D
