Is it: There was something daffadown dillysh in his look and appearance?..
Or perhaps:

DAFFADOWNDILLY is a kind of housing. It is a remote wooden cottage surrounded by a tall trees and a beautiful field of wild flowers, including daffodils. I used to go to such cottage when I was a little girl. It was in the Giant Mountains (Krkono�e) just down - at the foot of a hill... Birds woke me up and the flowers smelt so nicely that I wanted to dance and play all day long...
