Thoughts about teaching Technical English?

Greetings Everyone,

I have a some intermediate students, but we are using TechTalk Elementary, because this is suppose to be a "refresher" for them.  Anyway they find the book, too "elementary". Anyway, our next lesson is describing a project.  There are some pictures in the book that are to be put in order.  I was thinking I would make these pictures into flash cards and before we open the book, have them try to put the pictures in order.  I m really trying to make this as challenging for them as possible, but I ve got to use the book.  So I m trying to think of ways to get out of the elementary box, the book puts us in.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome!

Thanks in Advance,
Belles

Hi anna

You can create your own activities beside the book s activities.  In UAE, for secondary school students, we are just using the book as a tool beside our own activities that would help our students to improve their English skills.  I mostly concentrate on speaking and writing because they need them a lot in their daily life.  Sometimes, I escape some of unnecessary lessons from the book and replace them with my own lessons.

Good luck
