Sometimes we can use them interchangeably, but they have slightly different meanings.
Use of EACH:
When you are thinking about people/ things in a group separately, one by one Ex. Each entrant came forward to receive a medal (emphasis they came forward to receive a medal); Each time you exercise you get a little stronger.
Use of EVERY:
When you are thinkinhg about the WHOLE group of people/ things together, with no exceptions. Ex. Every entrant received a medal; Warm up every time you exercise
Don t use each with almost, nearly, or not. Use EVERY. Ex. Almost every student passed the test
Don t use "each" in negative clauses, use NONE. Ex. None of the students like fish
Each and Every are followed by a singular verb, singular pronoun , or determiner. but if you dont want to say if they are male or female you can use them, their, etc.
