Good morning everybody,
I have got a simple question for you. When you go to the doctor, is it to the surgery or to the medical practice ?
Thanks for your answer

Hi
I go to the doctor s surgery but most of the time we simply say "I m going to the doctor s".
I guess that way we don t have to consider what the group of rooms is called.
Also we say "I m going to the dentist s".
It s interesting because a surgeon works in a theatre" but not the acting type.
Isn t English weird?

I go to the hospital. (in Thailand there are no surgeries or doctors practising medicine at home, so the only place to get medical attention is the hospital)

I go to the doctor s.
I see the doctor in his surgery.
My doctor has a practice in a medical centre with several other doctors and health professionals.
Surgery is the room. I equate practice with business . |

I would go to a general practioner or an internist. They have there own private practice and sometimes their offices are in hospitals they are affiliated with. |

As Ed noted, in USA we go to the doctor s or doctor s office. We might also go to a clinic or urgent medical center. We d never say to the surgery. |
