Could you please tell me how many reindeer Santa has. In all movies it is said that 8. If you count them in the song about Rudolf it will be nine. In wikipedia I found 10 names. So, how many?
Thanks in advance))))))))))))))) |

#7, Donner, is from the song "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer". According to the poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas", his name was Donder. This poem was the first place the names were given to the reindeer.

Ho, ho, ho,
"Donner" makes more sense, though, it means "thunder" in German, "Blitzen" means "lightning" in German.

An earlier version of the poem used the Dutch word "dunder", which was later changed to "donder", bringing it closer to the German. Then the song completed the change.

The tenth "reindeer" is from a book called Olive the Other Reindeer, which I think is actually about a dog. The author gets Olive from the line in "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer": "All of the other reindeer..." which sounds like Olive. |
