MODALS OF DEDUCTION DON ´t CHANGE IN REPORTED SPEECH, do they? ))) OH PLEASE!

Dear  Teachers!Ouchheeelp
Please remind me! The Modals od Deduction and Speculation don t change IN REPORTED SPEECH , do they?
For Example:

Somebody s calling . I m sure, it must be my mother.
She said that it must be her mother.

Somebody called you yesterday. It might/may/must /can/could have been you mother.
She said that it might/may/must /can/could have been her mother.

=) waiting for you reply!

Hi,

As I know that modals changed into "had" so if the sentence like this:
Somebody s calling . I m sure, it must be my mother.
When reported, I think we change it into this:
She said, it had been her mother.
Hope I added something helpful.

If you have "She said: It must have been my mother" you change it into : "She said it must have been her mother". If you have "She said: It must be my mother" change it into : "She said it must have been her mother".

I m sure it is so but check it in a grammar reference.

Love from cold Poland:)
