Hello Alena,
I think it is the rubber belt used in factories for moving objects.I wonder whether the same word is used with the belt in supermarkets that moves towards the cashier ?

Yes, conveyor belt is used also for supermarkets and airports.  When googling it I found there is such a thing as conveyor belt advertising! My goodness, soon adverts are going to be on every single surface we see! How awful! Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYf1g8QACUI
