I am trying to think of all possible words used while talking about names of streets... Can you help me to find the synonyms for names such as Oxford Street or Wall Street? Street Road Avenue Alley Drive Lane Line? Via (Appia) Boulevard Place Passage Route Way
and how about buildings - eg Oak House, Oak Hall, Oak Place, Oak Villa, Oak Hotel, Oak ...?

There s also a lovely selection of Scots and Northern English names for types of streets like gate (Gallowgate, Trongate etc), vennel , close and my favourite, pend (I used to live in a village with two alleyways called the wee pend and the big pend / micklepend ).
I also have a soft spot for the relatively common street name, Rotten Row (you can find them all over the UK). |
