Board games and virtual dice dowloand?
|
Hello Teachers
I have found several board games on here that are a lot of fun to play. I like to play them using the OH projecter, only problem is I can t find a virtual dice download to use with the game.
So, what do you guys use with these board games?
and or
Does anyone know where I can download a free virtual dice?
This sounds simple I know but I have spent several hours searching and the ones I downloaded haven t worked :(
I appreciate any help
Have a nice day

Hi there, You might find this flash applet interesting. You just need to resize the window where the dice pops up. http://www.leicester.gov.uk/education/learninglibrary/ks1/maths/dice/index.htm

Dear Antony,
why a virtual dice? Just use the real one. I m not an old fashioned teacher, I love the projector and ppts and stuff, but I find that my students do love to get their hands on sth for a change. God knows they hang around computers so much that they enjoy a real-life activity once in a while. Btw, playing a board game around the classroom (or even in a park) with students as the figurines beats anything we can technically project for them, trust me on this. But, it s your classroom, and a teacher s classroom is his/her kingdom. So, lots of luck finding a virtual dice if you so desire... |

Thank you everyone for your replys
Unfortunately I don t have internet access in my calssroom so an online dice is no good to me.
It seems pretty ridiculous that in this day and age I cannot simply download the software to carry on my usb, but that seems to be the case.
As for using a real dice I guess I might just have to make a gaint one. I sometimes have classes of 50+ students so they wouldn t be able to see a small dice from a distance. Also my students would simply cheat rather than play properly if they were in control of the dice. Putting them in small groups, they would revert to their mother tongue thus making the whole process worthless.
It is interesting to hear your views though and has definitely given me food for thought.
Once again thank you for your time :) |
