PS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect
The Streisand effect is a phenomenon in which an
attempt to hide or remove a piece of information has the unintended
consequence of causing the information to be publicized more
widely and to a greater extent than would have occurred if no contrary
action had been attempted.
Without the controversy this worksheet may have been resigned to the 2 downloads it had when first reported, thanks wake:)

No wonder, it was 4 times at the recent contributions page! And if it isn t enough, wake is advertizing it on the forum! |

@sulekra, thanks for the link, I ll use the material to prepare a ws, my students will love it because we ve seen many of these cases in Brazil.
A model sued YouTube because of a video showing her having sex with her boyfriend at a beach. It was filmed without her permission and YouTube was down for several days in Brazil until they got rid of thousands or millions of copies of the video posted on the site. She got terribly popular and had more TV and magazine interviews than ever during her career as a model.
It happens in real life too. In the last elections many people protested agains a candidate to the parliament who is a professional clown and can barely read. They protested so much tha he was elected with more than 1 million votes.

I agree with what Linda (Zora) said.
and personnally:
It sounds like censorship to me.
If you don t like it, don t download it. Some of us may be able to use it in our classes.
I don t remember seeing any rules about worksheets having to be appropriate for children under 18. Besides these pictures should be appropriate for mst teenage children--they see this stuff (and worse) every day. AT least here they can have a responsible adult with them to answer questions and help them to better understand and deal with the topics.

Ja Ja! Zailda. You Brazilians are always ahead. We have already voted for some illiterate clowns here but they would never advertise that way. Hope theyre not going to import the idea for 2011 elections!
Big hugs

Do people here remember United Colours of Bennetton and THEIR very controversial campaign ads??
http://press.benettongroup.com/ben_en/about/campaigns/history/
Now THIS might offend.. sensibilities... on how life really is sometimes. Those reported ws pictures are a merry walk in the park compared to Bennettons ads. So honestly, grow up, stop sheltering kids from "reality" (the virtual reality that a lot of them live in, is not "reality") and shake and wake them up a bit!!
Sulekra - make a ws using Bennetton s Ads, pls! And really make Wake feel offended - but offended for a reason! Offended because of the cruelities around us and not because there is a half naked women in some worksheet!

...still, giving Wake a break would be great, too.
I think he/she/they got the idea....& He/she/they is NOT the only one who helps himself/herself/themselves ( ) to other contributors ws....if you see what I mean.
( PS : When I saw the first reporting of this ws, I voted for it to stay. Full point. I agree with what has been said...)I noticed the author of the ws is wise enough - not to add any more words...

I am the author of this worksheet. The class where I ve used this worksheet has students between 21 and 27 years old. They all loved the worksheet. They ve spent one hour talking and writing about it. I havent read all of their worksheets yet, but I was very pleased with the "brainstorming" in class. Next class I will give them the ads with the slogans and the brands. If you want, I can e mail you that. It s not a worksheet, just the true ads. Everybody thought the first ad was from Playboy. I think it would be nice to talk about how conditioned our minds are sometimes. They ve associated the rabbit.
Please contact me if you want the rest of the adds.
i was surprised and somewhat sad when I saw my worksheet being reported day, after day, after day... I was t really expecting that. |

Don t be sad, I think we are so connected to the internet that sometimes we forget how the "real world" looks like. |
