i �m sorry to tell you that there is no specific hadith or verse that urge us , we muslim, to celebrate the birth of MOHAMED PEACE AND BLESSING UPON HIM. it �s only after Safouan Dynasty in Egypt that was decided to commemorate this HERSY " bid3a"
if the celebration was really legitimate and a good deed, the companions of Mohamed would be the first ones to have celebrated it, a fact that was denied and not tolerated.
i am really afraid to tell you that Mohamed PBUH is innocent of what people are doing in the MAWLID
Glorifying MOHAMED is great indeed but celebrating his birth seems like celebrating Christmas or the new year
one more thing i want to tell you is that the fabrication of the Mawlid had really political reasons at the era of SAFOUAN DYNASTY particulary when SKALI, a moroccan leader who fled from unstable and insecure conditions in Morocco in 357H. With his army, he invaded egypt with the intention to settle down. 4 years later that is in 361H Khalifa l ALMO3IZ left Morocco and Joined SKALI in Egypt. once there, Khalifa Almo3iz Alfatimi wanted to gain symapthy from egyptians; he was smart enough to urge them to come out with a new way to love Mohamed, he was but a villian and decided to found a day that he called AID ALMAWLID; he bestowed poor people with presents including sweeties and clothes; he orderd his servants to give money to all poor families and finally he asked the castle to slaughter beasts like camels, cows, sheeps, and goats and invited people, all kinds of people rich and poor to eat from the big dish he settled in the grand plaza. from that we concluded that ALMAWLID is a HERSY
