I taught fruits and vegetables my kids 2 weeks ago.I used some flashcards worksheets including some wordsearch, make a list or matching exercises in the first week.and played some game like guessing game,rock-paper-scissors. let me tell you rock-paper-scissors first.you can put all flashcards on the floor in a line.then you seperate your kids into 2 groups.one of these groups stands on left part of the line and the other group stands on the right part.and one kid of each gruop starts to jump on the flashcard which is his/her side.and they have to say fruit name correctly when they jump.and finally when kids meet in the middle of the line they play rock-paper-scissors(very traditional game).the winner goes on the line.if a kid beats evry kids from the other group by going on jumping his/her group earn 1 point. or you can play some guessing game.choose one of the falshcard and decribe it to your kids by using their colours, shapes and like that.and you want them to guees it. also you can want them draw a tree or a bowl and they can draw some fruits they know on the tree or in the bowl.and so you can make poster about them. hope they will be useful for you.

Hello,
You can do a guessing game. You describe the fruit and the kids have to guess what it is.
Follow up questions like, color, size might also be an option.
You can also lay some cards on the ground, say the fruit and the kids have to pick it up. It s very simple but specialy young kids love to play this.
Hide the cards in the classroom (kids have to close their eyes) and ask the kids where the fruits are.
It s not much but maybe it helps

I taught young learners the fruits using flashcards and a game: you put the fruits on the wall, separated. When you say the name of the fruit they have to run and touch the correct one. You can also ask a small group of students each time, so that there isn t (much) confusion... They love it because they get to stand up and run and they really learn! You can also use smaller pictures to each st and they raise them when you say the word.
Good luck! |

Hi,
Dipper s game works, I did it too!
You may use real fruit. On a table you may put: apples, bananas, pears, oranges, lemons....
They touch them, they can smell them... at the and of the lesson they can draw them.

Another one:
Put the flashcards face down onto the floor. Divide your ss into two (or more) groups. They have to stand in a line. You say: apple and the first ones run to the flashcards and turn them up. The one who finds the picture can get it. After that they have to turn them face down again. Then you say: banana and the second ones run and turn etc. The winner is the group with the most pictures.
One more:
two sets of smaller cards - two groups
Ss have to find the picture (or the word-card) and pick it up and the quicker group gets a point. The winner is the group with more points.
Last one:
My little ss really like it when I don t know the word. Eg. I ve got the picture of an orange and I say It s a pineapple. Sometimes I try twice or three times. Then I ask them to tell me the name of it. This way they can practise: No, it isn t. It s a / an... They always have fun.
Hope it helps.
