Hello!
Is it ok to use puppets in a second grade? (student s are 7 year old)
The puppet produces the tune of Frre Jacques I d like students to sing:
Hello, teacher
Hello, teacher
How are you?
How are you?
How are you today?
How are you today?
I am fine
I am fine
It s my first time with second graders I used that song in kindergarden I don t know if it s suitable for 7 year old kids |

My ss love songs. I use the Wheels on the bus with 4th graders, which their native-speaking peers would probably consider retarded I used the brother John tune for a Happy New Year song with 6th graders last year and they didn t mind, in fact it facilitated the process of remembering the song. Our kids aren t exposed that much to those well-known early childhood tunes. And 1-3 grade kids love puppets.Sophia |

If done right puppets can be used in almost any grade. Don t we adults enjoy them? Definitely in second grade. |

I often use puppets during my lessons: they give the children "more courage" in speaking a language which is not usual for them.
Here are two of my young students during a question & answer conversation.
