Can you tell me the difference between : LIKE TO V and LIKE VING
                                                                  PREFER TO V and PREFER VING

The difference:
LIKE TO + VERB
LIKE + GERUND* (VERB -ING)

*A GERUND is a noun- e.g. shopping (the activity of shopping)
