Best is "to perfom"
Otherwise I would say "do a performance" (definetly NOT "make...") |

I do not know if "make" or "do" is used but i know that you can use "to give performance". Also, you can use just "perform". I hope this may help.

Thank you, Douglas and ozlem.yagiz!
Would you then say that They did an excellent performance last night doesn t sound quite right? |

Ozlem is correct: "They gave an excellent performance last night." is the best choice.

Dear Pilarham,
I agree with Douglas and Ozlem.
"They gave an excellent performance last night!", is the best choice.
Oxford Dictionary of English, page 1308.
PERFORMANCE: An act of performing a dramatic role, song, or piece of music. "Bailey gives a sound performance as the doctor".
I hope that this helps.

And what about to show a performance? Can we use this verb? |

No - you don t show a performance - you give a good performance.

I agree - not make, do or show. You give a performance, or you perform. Bruce |
