When a phrase is used as an adjective, it needs a hyphen, so it �s
 
It �s a 5-minute walk from here.

Hyphens are being used less & less in modern English, so it �s OK to say-
 
�It �s a 5 minute walk. � or �a five minute walk �
or
It �s 5 minutes on foot.
 
It �s a 5 minute drive.
or
It �s 5 minutes by car.
